Austin talks about the shootout in North Augusta in December 2021.

AUSTIN: I was in Minnesota the day that it happened, and, my phone lit up like a Christmas tree. I was getting ready to go with Minnesota Mike to see the Steelers play the Vikings. December of 2021. And again, the phone lit up like a Christmas tree. Huge shootout in downtown North Augusta. Certainly, something involving multiple killings. It had to because there were so many bullets fired, so much loud noise. It was like a battle zone. Had to be 4 or 5 people dead, right?
Miraculously, no one died. Thomas Michael Arrington was the guy responsible. He was caught in the middle of a police chase. He decided that rather than be taken alive, he was going to shoot it out with the cops. And boy, did they. Dozens of shots fired. It is a miracle no one was killed.
The suspect, Thomas Michael Arrington, recklessly drove through intersections of Georgia Avenue and East Martintown Road, striking three vehicles, overturning one of them. The pursuit continued down Georgia Avenue before coming to a stop, and that’s when Arrington opened fire on multiple officers, eventually hitting one of them in the leg. Thank goodness gracious. Not seriously injuring him.
Arrington fired a total of 49 shots at officers during that shootout, and God knows how many they shot back at him. Yesterday, that man sentenced to 30 years in the penitentiary. And I don’t think that is enough.
Now, any time that you’ve got someone that is trying their level best to kill law enforcement officers and their own bad aim doesn’t allow them to do it, they should not be rewarded for their, poor aim, their poor marksmanship. No, he should have been sentenced to death in my humble opinion. It’s a shame the cops didn’t take him out in the middle of the shootout.
But the demon did get sentenced yesterday to 30 years in the state penitentiary. And I believe federal charges may still be pending against him. Here’s to hoping he never makes it out of jail alive.
But to Thomas Michael Arrington, the demon from hell hopefully, he’s been sent there, for the rest of his natural life. Let’s do what we can to make sure idiots like this never breathe free air again. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
