Austin talks about the Trump administration asking the Supreme Court to narrow a nationwide injunction that's blocked Trump's plan to end automatic birthright citizenship.

Austin: Officials with the Trump administration asking the Supreme Court yesterday to narrow a nationwide injunction that's blocked the president's plan to end automatic birthright citizenship. Whenever this comes up, I'm always asked, how in the world can this be tossed out birthright citizenship? Hey, if you're born on American soil, you're a citizen, right? That's the most basic American citizenship premise there is. Well, think about that for a minute.

It's the intent of the founding fathers as the constitution is written. That's what you need to look at. For instance, you have a right to bear arms unless you're bearing arms illegally. You're either ineligible to bear arms if you've had your right to revoke as a felon, or you are using your arms to commit a crime. So there is no absolute right to bear arms, even though there is a right to bear arms.

Free speech. You've got a right to free speech in America, correct? Well, not if you're yelling fire in a crowded theater or you're libeling or slandering someone. There is no ultimate or total freedom of speech. So, in the same vein, is there a right to birthright citizenship simply because you happen to be downloaded as a human being on American soil?

If your parents are illegally in this country, why should you be granted a legal right or legal citizenship as a result of your parents' illegal presence here? It's a great concept. Again, one of those common sense things like, oh, I don't know, locks on a cockpit door that seem to have escaped many people dealing with this issue. The Trump administration thinks they have something, and quite frankly, I agree with them. Let's see what the Supreme Court thinks.

Seems to be at least several reasonable people on that court that may see things Trump's way. Stay tuned. Should be interesting. And that's the comment. I'm Austin Rhodes. 95.1 FM News Talk, WGAC.
