Austin: It has been a Republican pledge as long as I can remember. President Reagan, both president Bushes, and virtually everyone that's run for president on the Republican ticket has discussed doing away with the Department of Education. Leave it to President Trump to actually fulfill that promise.
That's right. The Department of Education being literally cut in half, the bureaucracy, the the number of bureaucrats on the payroll over the course of the next couple of days, and it is looking like they are going to be able to continue to function, distributing funds, issuing Pell grants, things of that nature for the time being with a staff that's cut in half.
Again, President Trump has been saying that he's been wanting to do this. It was, unfortunately, a task that was not, well, feasible during his first tenure in office. He just didn't know quite know how to dismantle the bureaucracy. But now, again, he is doing it for those of you who are wondering, oh my god.
Does that mean we're not gonna be having schools and no federal funding for schools? No. It doesn't mean that at all. It means that the president of the United States wants to get federal oversight away or out of the education system. Let the states handle it.
This has been something, again, that every Republican of note has been promising since any of us can remember. Leave it to Donald Trump to fulfill the promises kept or made rather by Republican leaders for generations. It will be a better system. I promise you that. If you live in a state that you can agree with the philosophies, education and political philosophies, you're going to be very happy.
If you happen to live in the state that you don't agree with the policies, it might be a little bit tough for you. But bottom line, red states will govern schools the way that red states believe they should be governed. Blue states, well, you know the rest of it. Stay tuned. It's gonna get very interesting.
Congratulations once again to the Trump administration. Promises made, promises kept.
