Austin: There are often contemporary complaints from contemporary generations about the workforce, about the education system, about the coldness of the business world, etc., etc., etc. folks, we don't know heartache. We don't know trouble like the generation of my grandfather.

He was part of the invading force D-Day 80 years ago, Utah Beach Fourth Division. He didn't speak a lot directly about what happened for a long time. Toward the end of his life, he started sharing a little bit more. I lost him when I was 17 years old in 1982. I so wish that I were able to have deeper conversations with Daddy Saab about what happened that day, and the way that it affected him forever.

But I can tell you this because I've studied up on it extensively in the days since I've lost him. We don't know heartache. We don't know sacrifice. We don't know the struggle. That generation, the World War Two generation, the men and a few women that fought in those battles. Unbelievable sacrifice. Unbelievable bravery. Unbelievable determination.

We have no way of knowing what they went through because they went through it. That's right. They spared so many of us here in America. Further battles, further struggles. Further wars because of that sacrifice. The amazing effort, the amazing bravery they showed.

Yes, there have been skirmishes since then. World War Two was a unique situation for this country. Thank God in heaven we haven't had to repeat it. Please remember those lessons we learned. Remember the sacrifices made on this day 80 years ago.

And thank God in Heaven we had such great Americans that were willing to fight those battles so we didn't have to later on. God bless them all.
