Austin: Well, I'm beginning to understand now why advisors to Kamala Harris want her as quiet as possible when it comes to interviews with knowledgeable journalists or anyone who is a constitutional scholar, for that matter.
Harris making headlines this morning saying that she is more than happy to ignore the filibuster or to put it aside so that legislation reinstating Roe V Wade can be passed in the U.S. Senate. Folks, that can't happen. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Actually, Ruth Bader Ginsburg said it. Abortion is a state issue unless the Constitution as amended.
The United States government... let me back up. The Senate and the House have absolutely no business passing abortion legislation. That is has nothing to do with the federal government itself. In other words, not federal funding, that type of thing. They have absolutely no business making rules or regulations about abortion, period. The Supreme Court has issued that edict, and it is really constitutional law 101.
If you want a voice on the issue of abortion, a federal voice, you have to allow that through a constitutional amendment. That's the only way to do it. What Kamala Harris is doing is pandering. She's attempting to throw a bomb, in more ways than one, on a political issue that is very, very sensitive in this country and for good reason. But the left has become completely ignorant when it comes to the constitutional nature of this issue.
And Kamala Harris is more than willing to be as absolutely ignorant of the Constitution herself as she attempts to pander to the home crowd. Stay tuned. This is going to get interesting, but the lady needs to go back to law school, no doubt. And that's the comment. I'm Austin Rhodes, 95.1 FM, News Talk WGAC.
