Austin talks about Dr. Melinda Cobb, the acting superintendent of schools for Augusta-Richmond County.
Austin: Melinda Cobb yesterday for the very first time, the acting superintendent of schools for Augusta Richmond County, wonderful lady with great insight into the processes and the relationships that I think she knows need to be solid to help propel the school system to the next level.
One of the problems in the Richmond County school system over the last few years is inconsistent leadership. Doctor Cobb, as a former principal at Josie High School and an associate superintendent for many years seems to have all of those ducks in a row, but she genuinely calls Augusta home and seems to be very proud to call Augusta home. She has a child here in the area.
I mean, I could go on and on about my personal impressions of Doctor Cobb, but professionally, she may be the answer to Richmond County’s leadership void, the school system’s leadership void. The very fact that she was willing to come on the Austin Rhodes Show and actually sought us out to make an appearance also speaks very highly of her. Haven’t had that happen since Doctor John Streleck was the superintendent in Richmond County, what was that, thirty years ago?
Bottom line, we look forward to getting to know Doctor Cobb a little bit better, and I hope that the school board will give her a real chance to become the next permanent leader in Augusta, Richmond County. It would be a wonderful change of pace and I believe a great addition to the local school system or let me let me back up on that.
a great continuation of ongoing leadership in the school system. She’s been around for a while. Doctor Cobb, it was nice to meet you, and I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you in the future.
And that’s the comment. I’m Austin Rhodes. 95.1 FM News Talk, WGAC.
