Austin talks about Vice President Kamala Harris telling everyone she was the last at the table when the decision was made for withdrawal from Afghanistan 3 years ago.
Transcript:
Austin:Vice President Kamala Harris took great pride in telling everyone she was the last at the table when the decision was made to withdraw from Afghanistan three years ago. President Biden, of course, it was thought to be one of his worst failures as president of the United States. And certainly, as we have recently seen, Taliban troops driving down main streets in Afghanistan, driving literally $80 billion worth of American military equipment. We understand why it was such a debacle.
Trump is going to use those images as a sharp stick against his opponent in the upcoming election. And who can blame him? There’s a very sharp contrast to be drawn between the way that Trump was handling that and the way that Joe Biden ultimately did.
Keep in mind, Trump set the tone for the withdrawal, but unfortunately, he was removed from office before he could complete it. He had given the Taliban a very sharp directive, though. He said if one hair on the head of an American was harmed after America pulled out of Afghanistan, that he would kill the leader of the Taliban, and then he showed him a picture of his secret home where he and his family live, a satellite image of it.
The message was very clear and very startling to the Taliban leader. Unfortunately, the man with the big picture was not there to enforce that threat when things did start falling apart. President Biden was. And President Biden was not nearly as, well, let’s just say authoritarian… well, trying to think of the proper word without insulting. But he just wasn’t as strong a leader on this topic as President Trump.
Bottom line, since Kamala Harris claimed to be sitting at the right hand of the president when the decision was made, she is going to get to bear the brunt of the blame for this one. Stay tuned. This could get very interesting and quite entertaining as the upcoming election gets a little bit closer. And that’s the comment. I’m Austin Rhodes. 95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
