Transcript:
Austin: What in the world was she thinking last night? The head of the Secret Service right now, perhaps the most scrutinized and criticized bureaucrat in Washington, D.C., walking around the Republican National Convention meeting last night. I guess hobnobbing. Who knows why she was there? She wasn't there working, that's for sure.
And she was confronted by a number of Republican congressmen and senators who were absolutely appalled at the lack of forthright communication from the Secret Service regarding Saturday's tragedy in Butler, Pennsylvania.
To say that this lady and the administration of the Secret Service has been lacking would be the understatement of the year. And again, to think that she could walk around in such a high-profile atmosphere and not be challenged on the spot for all the failures of her department and herself. And all of this controversy is absolutely stunning to me.
And again, a total sense that she has no self-awareness in this. Really, really strange. In the meantime, this is a public relations failure of epic proportions, on top of the operational failures that put lives at stake Saturday. When a situation like this plays out, obviously communication is key, and once again, we see an inability and an unwillingness to communicate with forthright and honest intention is absolutely deadly in a political arena.
And by the way, as the former president, who hopefully will be the next president, it can be deadly in a literal way as well. And that's the comment. I'm Austin Rhodes, 95.1 FM News Talk. WGAC.
