Austin talks about the launch of a new online, hyper-local resource for all things Augusta. Check out Augusta Today!
Transcript:
Austin:The big unveiling came yesterday and we have been very happy to announce that Augusta Today has made its debut. This is a brand new news website brought to you by the Beasley Media Group.
Steven Uhles, the former entertainment editor and columnist at the Augusta Chronicle, is taken over to be the captain of that particular ship. He calls it a hybrid between a daily newspaper and an alt-weekly. Augusta Today, he writes, is a hyper-local, written and produced by communicators website that, folks again, created by people that live right here in the Augusta area.
It cranked up yesterday and we’re getting pretty good reviews on it so far. You’ll have columns from John Patrick, yours truly, Ashley Brown sports columns return in full force and with great, enthusiastic response. No doubt about that. Tee Gentry, Chris O’Kelley, Dub down the hall from Kicks 99, Kris Fisher, with a pop culture column every week.
It’s going to be, I think, a very interesting and still developing, website that features an awful lot of great insight and cultural information for the CSRA. On top of breaking news. No doubt about that.
I’ve been asked a thousand times since we introduced it yesterday, “Is this, your way of trying to recreate the Augusta Chronicle to replace what has been lost there? As far as daily news coverage goes?” No. We are here to augment what is already out there. And the best news of all, unlike other subscription websites, this website is absolutely free. AugustaToday.com.
Check it out online. You can link to it through just about any of our social media pages, and you’ll see what we’re cooking up for you. Steven Uhles, it’s an honor to have him on board, no doubt about it. And one of Augusta’s most respected journalists of the last 25 years. And now he’s part of the Beasley team. Good luck to him. And best wishes to all involved.
Should be a very worthwhile visit for you online. And again absolutely free AugustaToday.com. And that’s a comment and a welcome. I’m Austin Rhodes 95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
“Cody” Blaine Jackson is one half of the Kicks Wake Up Krew on Kicks 99, and also serves as the Digital Program Director for Beasley Media Group in Augusta.
