Austin talks about the members of the House Oversight Committee teaming up against US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.

Transcript:

Austin: What a day on Capitol Hill. Members of the House Oversight Committee blasted U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and AOC. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nancy Mace, Democrat and Republican, teamed up to look like the Anderson brothers, Gene and Ollie Anderson, back in the 70s, just absolutely wearing her out. And some of the profane conversation is not polite for a morning radio.

I can tell you this. I've never seen the Republicans and the Democrats united on such a controversial topic. And who would have thought that it would have taken an attempt on the life of Donald Trump to get their attention like this?

Cheatle, absolutely breathless and unable to respond to much simply because she said she was hogtied by the rules and regulations of what the Secret Service protocols allowed her to divulge in a public setting. This is why I don't understand why this hearing took place in public. If they needed specific answers that she could have given off camera, they probably should have done that.

But the bottom line, Cheatle has to go. This was an overwhelming failure, a colossal failure. And by the way, Mayorkas, your homeland security secretary, also was another one primed to go.

And folks the specter in the back of the room on all this, the elephant, that's sitting at the table demanding to be addressed. Why hasn't President Biden had anything to say about the massive failure of the Secret Service?

I understand he's been a little under the weather, but if he is a functioning president, he should have been able to issue a statement on this. Cheatle should have been fired days ago. She definitely is on the way out. Why in the world they've kept her around this long? Unbelievable. Stay tuned. This is going to get strange before it gets finished.

And that's the comment. I'm Austin Rhodes, 95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
