Austin:They say it was the longest acceptance speech in political convention history, and I don't doubt it. President Trump, once he gets rolling, can take quite a while.
It's funny, I didn't notice how long it was until about 90% of the way through it. Toward the end, slowed down toward the end, he kind of reverted back into his standard rally speech. But I got to tell you that first 30 to 45 minutes was really something, particularly the personal perspective that he gave with what happened last Saturday night in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bottom line was there enough there to convince the undecided to swing to his direction. Things seemed to be going his way as far as the polls go. But again, I think he's going to have to work on outreach a little bit more. And I think it was a pretty good picture of what exactly Trump can be when he wants to be, as far as toning down his rough around the edges message at times. In the meantime, President Biden is hanging by a thread, and it looks like the Democrats are finally coming to an end of this long discussion about what to do with him. It struck me last night, and this is going to be the third presidential primary in a row that the Democrats have played shenanigans with. Think about that. Remember the Bernie Sanders torpedoing when he was running against Hillary Clinton in 2016? Then in 2020, not a real process. That's the whole reason Biden became your nominee and now short circuiting that process again. That's three in a row. Democrats getting the message here. Well, in the meantime, the focus was on Trump last night and for what he brought to the table. I thought he did pretty good. Stay tuned. More on this this afternoon. And that's the comment.
