Austin: I spent about 15 minutes before I recorded this commentary, scouring the internet for any updated news this morning on the identities or the motives of the gunman in the Kansas City attack yesterday could not find any. At this point, the authorities have not released any of that information that I can tell. But already, President Biden and other political entities are calling for gun control and gun regulation reform in the wake of what happened.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have constitutional rights that sadly are abused by the criminal element in this country. We have a First Amendment right, and there are plenty of idiots that abuse that First Amendment every single day. Rarely do you ever hear anyone come forward and say, well, you know, it's time to sacrifice that First Amendment because so many people speak irresponsibly.
There'll be a time and a place for political debate while the gun smoke is still in the air from this attack in Kansas City. That's not the time. Let's find out who these individuals are, identify them and their motives, and then maybe a conversation about what those specific individuals had on their plate. What what could we have done to limit the criminal minds in this area when it comes to gun possession? In the way that criminals are allowed to walk among us, even though we know that many times they've got criminal records and, a propensity to show the world that they are up to no good.
Now's not the time to do that. It will come later. That I guarantee you. And that's the comment, I'm Austin Rhodes. AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
