Transcript:

Austin: Donald Trump is not stopping his fight to get Fani Willis removed from prosecuting his election corruption case in Georgia. Attorneys for the former president and several of his co-defendants have officially asked the judge in the case for permission to appeal his recent decision that allowed Fani Willis to stay at the at the will of the prosecution.

The defendants Monday requested the judge in the case grant what's known as a certificate of immediate review, and again, that certifies their permission to seek relief from the Georgia Court of Appeals. And this all should again delay the trial. Yet a few more weeks, perhaps, or maybe even months. But Friday, the judge very strangely ruled that Willis, the D.A. in the case, did not have a qualifying conflict of interest, but there was an appearance of a conflict that required her to make a choice either recuse herself completely or remove her former boyfriend, Nathan Wade, her lead prosecutor, from the case, completely. And of course, very quickly, Wade himself withdrew from the case.

Bottom line here, the judge sent very strange mixed signals, and it's very easy to understand why Trump and his team feel like they have a very clear way to get this decision appealed and changed, and Fani Willis immediately removed from the case. Ultimately, it will be a victory for Trump because it delays this case yet again.

I don't see this case going forward with Fani Willis having anything to do with it. I maintain that prediction will eventually come true, even though it only halfway came true Friday. Stay tuned. This thing is getting more dramatic by the moment. And finally, Willis finds her legal career in jeopardy. As the case does in fact move forward and more revelations about her behavior are revealed publicly. And that's the comment, I'm Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
