Update: Person Of Interest Wanted For Questioning In Edgefield Road Murder: No Longer A Person Of Interest According to Authorities.
A person of interest is wanted for questioning in the recent deadly shooting on Edgefield Road in North Augusta last week.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old James L. Wright Jr. of North Augusta was shot July 17 in the 300 block of Edgefield Road.
A caller notified authorities that gunfire was heard in the area. Once deputies arrived, they found Wright’s body on the ground between two buildings there around 3:15 pm.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables pronounced Wright dead at the scene.
Person of Interest Wanted for Questioning in the Case
Today, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office released a surveillance picture of a person they want to question in connection with Wright’s murder.
“The individual was seen in video footage gathered from the Talk Now Cellular store and may be a witness to Wright’s murder,” said SSGT. Stephen Shunn.
He’s black and was wearing a red t-shirt, black sweat pants and light-colored slip-on shoes.
The person of interest was also seen in video footage leaving the area in a blue four-door sedan.
