Dancing Star – Cody Kicks Her Heels For A Great Cause!
The Alzheimer’s Association’s Dancing Stars of Augusta is coming up in about a month and Cody from the Kicks 99 Wake Up Crew has thrown her cowboy hat into the ring! It’s exciting to have a co-worker take on such a daunting task but I have full faith that Cody is the one that can bring home that Mirror Ball trophy!
Most of the other competitors have been practicing and raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association since November of last year, but Cody got a late start on both. She was asked in January if she’d be willing to give it a try and she’s managed to bring her special brand of tenacity to the table and really get the ball rolling for the Alzheimer’s Association!
Dancing Stars and Raising Money!
If you’re not familiar with Dancing Stars of Augusta, it’s a dance competition with a little flair and a lot of heart! The CSRA brings the brightest Stars in our community together for the Gala. The event isn’t just a dancing competition though, it’s also a fundraising competition. The funds raised by all the local stars through this competition help to push the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association forward.
It helps by funding research, by advancing public policy, and maybe most importantly by providing local care & support for people living with the disease and their caregivers. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. By donating, you’re making a difference for your friends, family and neighbors.
This Dancing Star Has An Ace Up Her Sleeve!
This spectacular event gets a huge boost of support from the dance studio Ballroom in Motion with Teena Marie and a bevy of local dancers to guide and train the stars. Cody’s partner Daniel Perez is a first time competitor too, so they’ve been working out the kinks together in their limited practice sessions.
While the other competitors may have had more time to get their routines together, Cody has a little advantage up her sleeve in that she has a background in dance. With 13 years of ballet, tap and jazz she was able to hit the ground running and put together a little country flavored cha cha that all of us at Beasley are excited to see!
To contribute to Cody’s page is super easy! Just click her page and hit the donate button! She’s also got a QR code button set up on her page to make it really fast.
The gala itself will be at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 7 pm. It’s “Black Tie Optional” but why wouldn’t you want to get all fancy-like and look your most glamorous? It’s for a great cause and it’s going to be a ton of fun!
