Austin: Their iconic voices and personalities have become part of the fabric of the Masters Golf Tournament, just like the golfers in the course itself. The CBS broadcast crew that is so expertly delivered to the broadcast since its very beginning on television all those years ago, has really become part of our our memory base when it comes to the tournament.

Whether it's the amazing voice of Pat Summerall all those years, Brent Musburger for a while there, and of course, the legendary Jim Nantz, who is in the process of scaling back his professional duties in the broadcast world, missing his first NCAA title game in many, many years. Just this year, he's going to stay with the Masters for a few more years yet to come, and that's a great thing.

But unfortunately, one of the legendary voices at his side has stepped aside. Nick Faldo retired last year. He will be replaced, if you can call it that, by Trevor Immelman. Immelman has great promise. He's shown and wonderful insight, and he has a very solid connection to many of the top names in golf. And so it will be an interesting transition, but one, again, that I fully expect the CBS professionals will pull off with great aplomb.

One voice we are saying goodbye to again this year for good, Verne Lundquist. The incredible presence at 16. You remember his iconic call of the Tiger Woods chip in birdie in 1997 on 16 in your life. Oh, in my life. Verne Lundquist I have rarely enjoyed a broadcaster in a sports capacity the way that we've enjoyed you. His NFL broadcast were absolutely epic through the years, teaming with Terry Bradshaw early in his career and helping foster him into the great presence in broadcasting that he is now.

Folks, Verne Lundquist is calling it a career after this year at 16 and we will miss him greatly. Ran into him last night at Luigi's, as a matter of fact, and I had the opportunity to shake his hand and thank him. It was and is a career very, very well enjoyed by many of us. God bless him. And that's the comment, I'm Austin Rhodes, News Talk WGAC.
