Back In Time
Young Austin: "March 17th, 2009. My son's birthday. As you're hearing this commentary play, I am at my wife's side and no doubt watching her go through the beginning stages of her induction into childbirth. Little man is supposed to be born probably sometime today. Hopefully sooner rather than later. But I'm told these things take some time with a first born. It's the first time, even though my daughter's 18 years old next week. This is the first time I've been through a complete pregnancy and in fact, the childbirth. And finally my own child. And while I did witness a couple of them when I worked in the emergency room at MCG back 25 years ago, this is the first time that I've been a. Well, let's just say ground level participant in the process from beginning to hopefully this afternoon, a very, very happy end.
I want to thank everyone that took the time and, effort to send letters, email, phone calls, prayers, kind wishes. Bobbie and I really appreciate this. There was a point in time, right after she and I met each other, that I didn't think we would be together very long, simply because she was completely and totally set on having her own child one day, and I knew that was an impossibility with me. And besides that, already had a daughter, and I just didn't want to grow my family any more. But over time, I loved this young woman so much, my wife, that there was no way I could deny her that request. So through the miracle of modern science and a whole lot of money, thank goodness gracious, knock on wood, we could afford to do it. Little man's being born this afternoon, and, well, I'm gonna have fun over the course of the next several years telling you this story the way that I've told you about my daughter Christine coming into the world. This is an incredible day, and I thank you for all your kind wishes. In the meantime, also kind wishes and prayers offered this morning to our colleague Harley Drew. He's undergoing some serious surgery this morning. But we've got a great prognosis from the doctors, from his doctors. And here's hoping everything goes as well as I possibly can for him. And that he'll be back in the saddle very soon. A big day for everybody here. Say a prayer. Keep your fingers crossed for both of us, and we'll see you tomorrow. Hang in there."
A Trip Down Memory Lane
Sometimes a special moment like that just has to be shared! So, for just a few moments we all went back in time! It was a sweet and special clip and a great reminder of the difficulties of conceiving via IVF. And from all of us at WGAC: Happy birthday Beau!
These Are the Most Popular Middle Names for Babies
Naming your baby is such a special moment. There's lots of attention that goes into finding that just-right first name, but don't forget about the middle name. A great middle name can really make that baby's moniker. Actually, my first name, Anne, is a very popular middle name. But, I'm not too upset about it. So, what are the most popular middle names for babies?
There's a new study out from Baby-chick.com that lists the most popular middle names for babies. "While choosing the perfect first name for your child is essential, picking a middle name can be significant, too," the publication notes. "It can carry significance and become a huge part of their identity." You might want a traditional middle name, or you might want something more modern. To help, Baby-chick.com has put together a list of some very popular baby names for boys, girls and gender-neutral ones, too.
If you're wondering about the history of middle names, it began during medieval times. Moreover, according to Ancestry.com, for centuries in Europe, a legal name had just a first name and a surname or patronymic, and middle names became popular in late Medieval times. "In England, they were reserved for the nobility, with an old law making them illegal for the rest of the population," Ancestry.com states. "Since the Pilgrims and many early settlers came from England, early Americans followed the tradition of having only two names." They add that you can see this phenomena via the early Massachusetts birth records on Ancestry.com. Looking at the Boston data in their database, there were no middle names in the 1600s, but some middle names started showing up in the early 1700s. I personally love having a middle name. It adds character.
Let's get into the most popular middle names for babies. Maybe these will give you an idea if you're naming a little one soon.
