Austin Rhodes: Got back in from a quick trip to Seattle to see my team take on the Seahawks. And I got to tell you, you know, as most of you know that listen to the radio show, I’ve been on a lifelong quest to see my team play in virtually every NFL stadium and every NFL city in the country. And I’m almost done. It’s been quite an experience.
Think about it for a minute. What what reason would most adult people living in Augusta, Georgia, have to go to places like Green Bay, Wisconsin, or Kansas City, Missouri, or Buffalo, New York, gotten to see all of those wonderful places? And again, a great lesson. It reminds all of us that take trips like that. There’s no place like good old Augusta, Georgia, when it comes to loving your home and your neighbors.
Saw a couple of things very disturbing. We’ll get into it a little more in detail this afternoon. But one example, it’s three police officers attempting to bring into custody a whacked out drug addict and a large number of folks standing around watching. Actually more sympathetic to the creature that was fighting the cops than the officers themselves. One of the officers was a female who took a brutal fist to the face in the process of of this arrest being being made.
And, you know, I was standing there. I presented myself to the officers. Well, bottom line, I let them know that I was on their side. And the crowd that was around watching what was going on were appalled that I would dare do such a thing. What would you do in such a situation? Have you ever thought about that? And what how many times do officers have to deal with this every single day?
It really is amazing. And I couldn’t help thinking this wouldn’t happen in Augusta. I don’t think you would have the crowd standing around actually pulling for the bad guy that I saw in Seattle. Strange experience. And again, a great reminder. No place like home, at least as far as I’m concerned. We’ll catch up this afternoon and looking forward to getting back on the microphone. Appreciate your indulgence while I was gone. Happy New Year. I’ll see you this afternoon. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
