Traffic at Standstill on I-20 near Thomson Exit
All lanes of I-20, east and westbound, are shut down at this hour due to a chemical spill and 18-wheeler fire this morning.
The McDuffie County Fire Department was called to the scene around 8:15 a.m. after the semi caught fire. They had it extinguished minutes later. The driver was not injured.
Authorities have set up a perimeter at the accident scene, due to the chemical spill that caused the fire.
All lanes of traffic are blocked while crews work to clean up the spill. Take an alternate route if possible.
