An Augusta Store Closing Is One of Over 300 Nationwide
An Augusta store recently posted “Going Out of Business” signs now that its parent company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
American Freight recently announced it’s closing all 328 of its stores nationwide, including the store on Wylds Road behind Augusta Mall. There are 15 American Freight stores in Georgia and 10 in South Carolina, including one on Richland Avenue in Aiken.
American Freight’s parent company, Franchise Group, said it wanted to focus on providing affordable, high-quality furniture initially, then expanded to include appliances.
An Augusta Store Closing Means Sales
Due to financial struggles, all American Freight stores are closing, with liquidation sales already underway at most stores.
A statement from American Freight said customers will find significant discounts, up to 30%, on its full assortment of inventory. That includes living room sets, bedroom furniture, dining room tables, scratch-and-dent merchandise, and new in-box appliances.
Hilco Consumer-Retailer is handling the going-out-of-business sales.
“Our goal is to deliver outstanding value to customers during this full chain closing sale. Everything is on sale and must be sold,” according to a statement from Hilco Consumer-Retail.
It’s not known when the stores will close their doors for good.
