Travel waivers are being offered on at least 5 airlines that will no doubt be impacted by this week's winter storm affecting many parts of the country.

Travel waivers are being offered to Atlanta passengers with flights scheduled on Delta, Southwest, American, United and Spirit Airlines.

Travel Waivers Already Being Issued

Delta started issuing waivers on Wednesday, giving those with flights booked for Friday and into the weekend more flexibility to change their reservations, without penalty.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for several areas of Georgia, including the Atlanta area, for Friday starting at 7 am and ending at 7 am Saturday. Some areas, especially north Georgia, are expected to get snow, sleet and freezing rain.

Delta officials say waivers issued this week due to the winter storm are for flights that were booked for Friday or Saturday to, from or through Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. Also included are flights to or from Asheville, Charlotte, Fayetteville, Raleigh, and Greensboro in North Carolina; Charlottesville, Norfolk, Richmond, and Roanoke in Virginia; Columbia and Greenville in South Carolina; and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

A message posted from Hartsfield Jackson International Airport on X says:

"As ATL prepares for the inclement weather projected this Friday, we encourage all travelers to monitor their airline's social channels, emails and apps for updates on delays or cancellations. Additionally, please remain updated on weather advisories if you are commuting to ATL."

Southwest, American and United Airlines are also offering waivers for flights that may be delayed, diverted or canceled in Atlanta or other cities affected by the winter storm.
