A Walmart shooting in the parking lot of the store off Horizon South Parkway in Grovetown sent one person to the hospital and three others are now in custody.

Multiple vehicles from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office arrived after a report of a fight in the parking lot around 8 pm.

Major Steve Morris said Monday night the shooting was not a random act of violence.

"Those involved knew one another," said Morris.

Walmart Shooting Lead to Three Arrests

Morris said two females, identified as 21-year-old Shamiya Hobbs and 20-year-old Jazmine McCloud allegedly attacked 18-year-old Keyadah Lee in the parking lot as she was leaving her job at Walmart.

The victim, identified as 17-year-old Ja'Kel Jordan, suffered a gunshot wound to the groin area while trying to break up the fight.

Morris said the gun used in the shooting was recovered by authorities as well as a cell phone belonging to 21-year-old Jamarion Burton, who was later identified as the alleged shooter.

Authorities took Hobbs, McCloud and Burton into custody in Jefferson County after getting a tip on their whereabouts.

Burton was charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Hobs and McCloud were also charged with Aggravated Assault and Simple Battery. All three are being held without bond.
