Man in Custody Charged with Fatal Hit-and-Run in North Augusta
A woman is dead and a man is in custody in connection with a fatal hit-and-run Friday night in North Augusta.
The North Augusta Department of Public Safety says a woman’s body was found in a ditch Friday night on Old Edgefield Road in the area of Brigham Road. The victim has since been identified as 50-year-old Angela Kathleen Blackwell of Old Martintown Road. Officials said it appeared at the time Blackwell had been involved in a possible hit-and-run.
After reviewing video from several locations in the area, it was determined the accident occurred July 21 at approximately 8:45 pm.
A news release from the North Augusta Department of Public Safety said, “A vehicle description was obtained from the video and officers began looking for the suspect vehicle in the area. At approximately 11 am today, a vehicle was located parked behind a house on Philpot Lane which matched the description and had front end damage consistent with the video of the collision.”
The suspect was identified as 60-year-old Robert Bradham Sr. of North Augusta. He was questioned and confessed to being the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
Bradham is now in custody at the Aiken County Detention Center, charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death.
