Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run in Richmond County
A pedestrian who was struck by a hit-and-run driver this morning in Richmond County has died.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the intersection of Milledge Road and Gardner Street just after 8 a.m. for a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian.
The male victim was taken to Augusta University Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries.
Sgt. Caleb Lee said in a statement, “The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before deputies arrived, but was later located in the 2500 block of Wheeler Road and taken into custody.”
Authorities say no other information is being released yet.
