Burke County Sheriff Seeks Re-election
Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams announced today he is seeking re-election in 2024. In a news release Williams said, “It is with great enthusiasm and energy that I ask for your support for my candidacy for re-election to the Office of Sheriff in Burke Burke County.”
Williams has served as Sheriff since 2017.
Williams noted that fear of crime and crime itself is down below state and national averages. The sheriff’s office has also seen substantial growth in the areas of higher learning and education and law enforcement training for personnel. Williams said 30% of his department’s employees obtained college degrees during his administration.
If re-elected, Williams said he expects to continuing providing resources for families and children as the county fights the addictions to opioids and other dangerous drugs; gang affiliation; cyber security threats; officer health and wellness and many other areas.
