Recall on Target’s Threshold Candles

Consumer Product Safety Commission

Target is telling customers to immediately stop using some of its Threshold Glass Jar Candles.  The candle's jar can crack or break during use, posing laceration and burn hazards, according to federal regulators.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the candles were sold in multiple sizes and various scents, including one-wick 5.5-ounce and three-wick 20-ounce jars.  Officials say they have received 19 reports of the candle jars breaking or cracking while lit.

The recalled candles were sold at Target stores nationwide and online between February 2020 and through July 2023.  Prices ranged from $3 to $12.

The candles being recalled can be identified by their item numbers on the bottom of the jar, listed on the CPSC website, and Target's recall page.  Spiced vanilla, cerulean surf and sea, pineapple sage and caramel latte are among the scents of the recalled candles.

"Consumers with the recalled Threshold products should immediately stop using them.  Candles can be returned to any Target store or by mail for a full refund.

It's not the first time Target's Threshold candles have been recalled.  In May, Target recalled 5 million candles due to similar safety concerns.  Target had received nearly 140 reports of the candle jars breaking or cracking while lit, resulting in six injuries.
