Grovetown Man Charged with Stabbing Father During Argument
A Grovetown man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his father in the hand during a verbal altercation this afternoon. Police were called to the 1200 block of Newmantown Road at 12:30 pm to a report of a stabbing.
When they arrived, 71-year-old Alwyn Miller told officers he and his son, 29-year-old Leonard Miller, were arguing at their home when Leonard pulled out a pocketknife and attempted to stab him with it.
The elder Miller said he used his right hand to deflect the attack, causing the deep lacerations. He told investigators he made it out of the house and flagged a passerby down at the intersection of Newmantown Road and Lakeview Drive.
Leonard Miller was taken into custody at the home without incident. “A bloodied pocketknife was found in his possession at the time of the arrest,” according to a news release.
Miller is in custody at the Columbia County Detention Center and has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Knife during the Commission of a Crime.
