Grovetown HS Standout Is On ESPN List
The honors for Grovetown High School’s boys basketball program continue. Derrion Reid hopes to lead the team to another state championship this season. Now, the Grovetown standout is on an ESPN List. Reid was named to the ESPN Top 60 list for the class of 2024.
According to WJBF, Reid wasn’t the only one excited about the news. “The final bell had just rang, and phone had just started blowing up with all these tags and people sending me stuff, and I looked it was the ESPN rankings,” said Reid.
“Now he has to check off his other goals and I feel confident that he can do that,” said Warriors head coach Darren Douglas.” He just works really hard, and I think he might need to be ranked a little bit higher, but I think it’s cool just to get that,” he added.
The Grovetown standout isn’t the only player from Georgia to make the ESPN list. The following players are ranked in the Top 40 and are part of the Overtime Elite League.
- No.34 Jahki Howard (Atlanta)
- No. 6. Jayden Williams (Snellville)
- No. 3 Naasir Cunningham (Atlanta area)
