Austin Addresses NBC Editing CJ Stroud Comments
Austin: All right, we’re back on the Austin Rhodes show. I need to clarify something. Shame on me for not being as tidy on this point as I should have been.
So I was talking about CJ Stroud’s comments being edited. He did have a live interview immediately following the game, where the first thing out of his mouth was, “I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” It was right after the field reporter came up and asked him. It literally was the first thing out of his mouth.
Video:
NBC Reporter: “C.J. your first playoff game and your first NFL season and a record setting performance for you. What does this moment mean?”
CJ Stroud: “I mean, it’s been amazing being in this city for as short as I’ve been with the love that I’ve got.”
Austin: Again, completely excised from the interview. And that’s the only thing that was excised. And again, this is not edited for time because it’s an online clip. Wow. And it was a clip that was shown on their subsequent highlight shows. Why would you do that? I mean, under what circumstances?
I’ve been in the journalism business, in addition to the talk radio business. And that is a no no unless there is a specific reason to make an edit like that. And again, every now and then, time does require it. But that’s the beauty of the internet and the highlight shows these days. They’re dying for content. And that’s part of C.J. Stroud’s identity. I mean, he’s known for that. And if and if he ever stops doing it, you’re going to wonder why he didn’t do it. Yeah, kind of like the very astute viewers and listeners did that picked that up.
And so that, you know, that’s my point. Live, they could not edit him without, you know, great effort being made. But in the tape that followed, again, where there are no time restrictions whatsoever, why would you edit that out? “I don’t care what he has to say” then don’t interview him, but “I don’t care what he has to say about that” Well, we certainly know what Colin Kaepernick feels about everything from this to that. I mean, you know, God knows you asked Travis Kelce what his brother is up to with Taylor. That doesn’t get edited out. But the man’s declaration of his personal faith I mean really really that’s it’s just crazy crazy crazy crazy.
And again, more reason to dislike and be suspect of mainstream media and their attitudes about all of us who are conservatives and people of faith in general.
