Three Fatalities in Edgefield County in a Week
In Edgefield County, a bicyclist was killed Wednesday when he was hit by a pickup truck on Bland Baptist Road.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident was reported just before 6 p.m., two miles west of Johnston. The bicyclist died at the scene.
That marked the third fatality in Edgefield County in less than a week. A driver died in a wreck on Woodlawn Road near Clarks Hill. The driver lost control of the vehicle, went down an embankment and struck a tree.
A motorcyclist was also killed in a three-vehicle wreck in Edgefield County that same day.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol also continues to investigate a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian last week. The pedestrian was hit last Friday night, December 15, on Cherokee Drive near Happyland Circle. The victim is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
Meanwhile, authorities continue to look for the hit-and-run driver. The vehicle involved is believed to be a gray or silver KIA sedan that most likely has damage to the passenger front of the vehicle and is missing the passenger side mirror.
