Augusta Woman Charged After Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself
A four-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the head late Friday night at Norris Place Apartments off Murphey Road in Richmond County.
The sheriff’s office says the boy found the unsecured gun in the unit, where other children ages 9 to 15 were present.
Investigators say the boy was taken to Wellstar MCG Health where he’s reported to be in critical condition.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 19-year-old Ladarion Ryans, who they say left the unsecured weapon in the apartment. Ryans’ mother, Brittany Senita Ryans, was reportedly in the kitchen when the gun went off. She was taken into custody Monday and charged with 5 counts of Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree. She was being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
One Suspect is Being Sought:
Authorities are now looking for Ladarion Ryans in connection with the incident. He’s black, 5’8″ and weighs 175 pounds. Ryans is considered armed and dangerous.
