Sheriff’s Office Needs Help Solving Richmond County Murder Case

Richmond County investigators are asking for any information that could help them solve a more than one-year-old murder case.

They say 21-year-old Jajuan Marcell Russell of Peach Orchard Road was shot and killed April 17, 2022 in the 3700 block of Oslo Road.  His body was found in the middle of the road.  Investigators say Russell was unresponsive and taken to Augusta University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.  A second male, identified as Gene Williams Jr., was also found at the scene with what appeared to be a non life threatening gunshot wound.  He was also taken to Augusta University Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.  A police report listed Williams as homeless.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or the non-emergency dispatch line at 706-821-1080.  All callers can remain anonymous.
