Man Arrested After Shooting in Keysville
A man was taken into custody this morning after allegedly shooting his stepson while the two were arguing.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Keysville at 6:45 a.m. after getting a report that a man had been shot.
Thirty-nine-year-old Corey Mack told deputies his stepfather, Rafael Vasquez, shot him in the thigh while the two were arguing at their home in the 200 block of Old Waynesboro Road. Corey said he was able to escape and went to a neighbor’s home for help. He is undergoing treatment at Augusta University Medical Center.
Deputies found Vasquez at his home and took him into custody without incident. He’s been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime. Vasquez is being held in the Burke County Detention Center.
