Major General Ryan Janovic, Commanding General over the Cyber Center of Excellence at Fort Eisenhower, confirmed to the media later that afternoon that one person was dead and one person had been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. He confirmed that the shooting took place at on-post housing, but didn't offer much other information. "The victim or association will not be shared until we have properly notified the next of kin. Stewart Jr. of Clarksville, Tennessee was identified as the victim in the deadly shooting. Stewart joined the Army in 2019 and served on active duty as a Human Resource Specialist. The incident was described as an isolated incident, and officials said neither the victim nor the suspect were active-duty military. Fort Eisenhower Murder Suspect Caught and Identified In less than three hours after the deadly shooting at Fort Eisenhower, a suspect was in custody in Meriwether County, Georgia. He has been identified as 25-year-old Natravien Landry of Abbeville, Louisiana. Early December 14, Landry, an Army National Guard soldier assigned to the 1148th Transportation Company at Fort Eisenhower, reportedly visited the residence of a woman in post housing with whom he shares a child. "Landry is accused of assaulting and shooting a man who was with the woman in her residence, and then leaving Fort Eisenhower," according to a statement from the U. S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Georgia. Landry left Fort Eisenhower and was arrested about three hours later just south of Atlanta on Interstate 85 during a traffic stop in Meriwether County. Sheriff Chuck Smith reported deputies apprehended the suspect near the 29-mile marker. Smith said authorities there had been notified the murder suspect was believed to be headed in that direction and had a description of the vehicle."Sergeant Bradford and Deputy Presley intercepted the suspected vehicle traveling southbound on I-85 and conducted a felony traffic stop around the 29-mile marker. During the traffic stop, our deputies observed the suspect throw a handgun out of the passenger side window of the vehicle," said Smith. Landry was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with Murder. The U.S. Marshals Service took Landry into custody and transported him to the Lincoln County Jail, where he awaits further court proceedings. No motive has been given for the shooting.
