Austin: Uh, there’s a lot of grousing and complaining this morning. No doubt about it. Columbia County students don’t like the fact that they are literally the only folks in the public school system anyway that has opted to, uh, schedule classes for today. Um, here’s the thinking. The wind is not so bad right now.

So this morning, everything’s going to be okay if it picks up and becomes dangerous later in the day. You know, it’s going to only be dangerous for probably an hour or so, depending on what time it hits. At least that’s the the mindset. Um, at that time they will hold the kids at school if need be, and they believe that, uh, you know, no harm, no foul. For the most part, they’re they’re saying that the risk simply does not exist at a high enough level to cancel school today.

But let’s but get past all that real quick. Let’s also admit that Columbia County is honest in what many of the educators say behind the scenes e-learning at home learning. Online learning stinks. It’s ridiculous. It is a weak, weak weak substitute for the real thing, and you are costing your kids a quality educational experience by opting for that. Don’t think ever it is a even trade off that oh well, they can get it at home. It’s no big deal. No, no e-learning at home online stinks period. And every educator that I know says the same thing. They hate it with a passion.

I mean, everybodt really likes staying home, but don’t ever think that you’re getting the same experience online that you get in the classroom. Don’t even consider it ridiculous. No. So just tell it like it is. And there you have it. Stay safe, keep our fingers crossed, and I think we’ll be okay. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC.
