This time of year always feels strange to me.  We're shaking off the winter doldrums but winter is just not quite done with us yet.  Finding things to do in this weird stretch of the year can be tricky. But why not try something conducive to improving yourself, nurturing your mental well-being, and top it off with a glamorous night out?

Celebrate Black History Month

February is Black History Month and there are tons of events to celebrate going on all over the CSRA. On February 24th, The Marriott downtown will be the location of the 5th annual Black History Month Conference in Augusta. For the duration of the conference, they've got some fantastic community events you won't want to miss!

Self Care Saturday At The Augusta Marriott

On February 24th from 10 am to 1:30 pm is Self Care Saturday. This is a free community event dedicated to nurturing your mental well-being. Self-care is not just about taking a few slap-dash minutes for yourself. There are active steps you can take to truly change your life and set you on the right path!

This event will feature wellness exhibits and vendors with offerings like health care screenings, financial wellness sessions, a church and mental health seminar, and exercise expos. You'll have the opportunity to discover financial literacy from some experts in the community and learn how going to church can promote mental health by hearing from local pastors. There will even be resources promoting holistic wellness from local professionals.

Fundraising Gala - A Red Carpet Event

As if that weren't enough, Saturday night will bring the Fundraising Gala "Celebrating African Americans and the Arts" to the Marriot for a glamorous red carpet event!  Featuring Tyler Perry/stage actor Mr. Palmer Williams, Jr, keynote speaker and Paine College President Dr. Cheryl Evans Jones and Lynwood Holmes & the Sounds Unlimited Band, the lavish affair promises to be a night of entertainment and fun! Tickets are available on their website here.
