Fire Destroys Vacant Building on Broad Street
Augusta firefighters were called to a structure fire reported to be a vacant business in the 2000 block of Broad Street last night where fire destroyed the building.
Authorities got the call at 9:30 p.m. Firefighters say heavy smoke and flames were visible when they arrived. Firefighters say no one was in the building when they arrived and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was also called to the scene.
