Georgia House District 129 Special Election Date Announced
A date has been announced for a special election to fill the vacancy for Georgia House District 129. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that December 20, 2022 will be the date for the special primary election in Richmond County.
Voters will choose who will fill the seat of the late Representative Henry “Wayne” Howard.
Qualifying is only open to members of the Democratic Party, since the death of Howard resulted in there being no candidate for Georgia House District 129 on the ballot for the Nov. 8 general election, according to officials.
January 17, 2023 would be the runoff if needed.

- Qualifying for the special primary election will be held at the Democratic Party of Georgia headquarters in Atlanta on 501 Pulliam Street, Ste. 400.
- Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The last day to register to vote for all people who are not registered to vote and who desire to vote in the special election is November 21. Advance in-person absentee voting begins on Nov. 28.
