Georgia’s St. Simons Island Lighthouse Turns 150 This Weekend
Need a road trip destination for Labor Day Weekend? Check out St. Simons Island. The area has plenty of beautiful beaches and historical places to visit. This weekend there is plenty to celebrate. Georgia’s St. Simons Island Lighthouse turns 150!
According to exploregeorgia.org, In celebration of the lighthouse’s 150th birthday, the Coastal Georgia Historical Society has planned a special weekend to celebrate! The iconic lighthouse actually be used as a movie screen to take visitors though history and tell stories of how it became an important part of the community.
Here’s the schedule for the weekend if you want to check out the free movie. They plan on playing it on a loop each evening.
September 2, 3, and 5 from 8:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. On Sunday, September 4, the show will start at 9 p.m. after the Little Light Music Sounds of Motown concert.
