A South Carolina Woman Won The Lottery and Lost Part Of Her Winnings To A Lawyer

A South Carolina woman who won $877 million dollars in the lottery in 2018 has learned a hard lesson in finding who to trust, especially when it comes to taking advise from a particular attorney.
According to the The State Newspaper, the woman planned on using a portion of her winnings to donate to several charities in the Simpsonville, SC area. After researching attorneys to help manage her winnings, she discovered Jason Kurland, a New York man who branded himself as the “lottery lawyer.”
Court records show that Kurland defrauded the woman out of $83 million dollars. Last week, a jury in New York convicted Kurland of wire fraud and money laundering.
