17 Year Olds Can’t Skip Driver Training After July 1
Starting July 1, 17 year olds won’t be able to skip driving instruction before getting a license.
As it stands now, teens who wait until they’re 17 to test for their first license are exempt from the 30 hours of classroom or online instruction, as well as six hours of on-the-road training.
With the passing of House Bill 466, those rules change as of July 1.
The new law states that anyone under the age of 18 won’t be able to get an initial Class D license without completing the training.
