SC Governor to lift restrictions on Close Contact Businesses Next Week
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced today that he will allow hair and nail salons, barber shops, body art and tattoo services, tanning salons, massage therapy establishments and gyms to begin opening next Monday, May 18. Public swimming pools are also included on the list.
Salon employees will be required to wear masks, change their smocks after each customer and wipe down stations after each use. There will be a limit as to how many people are allowed to wait to be served.
At gyms, no more than five people per 1,000 square feet or 20% of capacity is recommended. People will be advised not to drink from the water fountain, but rather fill bottles or containers there.
Draft guidelines for businesses are from the Department of Health and Environmental Control and AccelerateSC.
