Your ESPN+ Subscription Is Going Up, Soon
ESPN+ is great.
The folks at Disney have done a great job adding a multitude of live events to the app. If you’re a subscriber, you already know just how much is available.
Reports saying that ESPN+ offers more than 22,000 live sporting events each year, including NFL Prime Time, PGA Tour Live, more than 1000 out of market NHL games per season, more than 180 MLB games each season and expanded rights to Wimbledon and The Masters
Live events, specialty programming, 30 for 30’s, thousands of college events from more than 20 conferences.
You should know that the price for ESPN+, which has been $6.99 is going up, and soon.
If you’re subscribing, you’ll find out later this week that the price is going from $6.99 a month, to $9.99 a month. The change is effective August 23rd.
You can also subscribe to ESPN+ through a bundling package offered by Disney, the bundle includes HULU and Disney+.
This increase comes as Disney is getting set to offer an ad-supported tier for Disney+. That will arrive later this year. No price has yet been set on that.
When Disney last reported paid subscribers, they had 137 million subscribed to Disney+. They’re hoping for between 230 and 260 million subscribers by fiscal year 2024.
With the costs of each of the various subscription services incrementally rising, are you considering dropping some of the services to which you now subscribe? If so, which ones can you do without? If you binged a ton of shows during the pandemic, are you finding that you’re watching less these days?
Will you play less each month if the streaming service offers ads?
When is it too many streaming services? And will you hold on to ESPN+ longer because of the live sports programming? Have you found yourself frustrated at any point because something you wanted to watch was on a streaming service of which you were not a subscriber? Have you subscribed to a streaming service for the purpose of watching just one show or event, and then dropped it at a later date.
