A drug bust at two homes in Burke County on Tuesday landed two men behind bars.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division served search warrants at homes at 152 Mamie Joe Lane and 3003 Hephzibah Keysville Road.

"The operations, conducted on July 16, were a part of a coordinated effort by the Sheriff's Office to combat illegal drug activities within the community," according to a news release.

The Special Response Team of the Burke County Sheriff's Office conducted the raids and arrested Dustin Heape and Darius Smith.

Drug Bust Arrests

  • Dustin Heape: Charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
  • Darius Smith: Charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

Confiscated During the Raids

  • 1,366 grams of marijuana
  • 14 grams of methamphetamine
  • 4 firearms
  • $4,420 in cash believed to be proceeds from illicit drug sales.

"These operations are part of our ongoing efforts to disrupt and dismantle illegal drug networks operating in Burke County. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by aggressively pursuing those who engage in drug trafficking and related criminal activities," said Colonel Jimmy Wylds.
