The new Westmont Elementary School on Oakley Pirkle Road is finally opening its doors on Monday, August 19, after a series of delays that kept the building from opening on time for the first day of school on August 5.

"The day we have all been waiting for has arrived! We are pleased to share that on Monday, August 19, all students will report to the new Westmont Elementary School for our first day in the state-of-the-art facility," said Principal Angie Young.

For nearly two weeks, Westmont students attended classes at the Performing Arts Center in Evans. Then today, students were sent to the Columbia County School District Support Department Complex where they are spending the day on various field trips before returning to the complex for dismissal this afternoon.
