Thoughts On The Video
Let me begin by saying I really like this. Now, there will be some creeped out by what I am assuming is the use of AI, but I’ve gotta tell you, as scary as AI might be, this is a wonderful use of it.
Obviously, Billy approved it, so there are no issues there. If you’re a fan of him at all, this will tug at you. I don’t want to give away what they do, but it’s really well done.
Now, there have been reports that Billy did not actually sit down and create this song. It was started by someone else, thinking it would be perfect for Billy. They got together, and it’s my understanding that Billy did contribute to the process and was surprisingly very happy with how he sounded when they finally sat to record it.
His legacy is undeniable, his songs are the soundtrack to our formative years. His hits, too numerous to mention here. You know, you’ve crossed into another stratosphere when just about everyone can sing the lyrics to one of your songs. Think of what everyone does when he starts playing “Piano Man” live. You know, you know the words, all of them. And it’s probably not the only song of his that you do know all the words to.

So, take the time to watch this. It is a wonderful salute to a career that is second to none. 33 Top 40 hits and 23 Grammy nominations and five Grammys. In 1990 he was presented the Grammy Legend Award. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992. In 1999, he was inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. In 2014, he received The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. He is a Kennedy Center honoree and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
