Healthcare Career Camp Can Set Your Student On The Right Path
Do you have a middle schooler who’s interested in getting into the medical field when they grow up? Well, you’re in luck! Augusta Technical College and Piedmont Augusta are bringing the CSRA a Healthcare Career Camp! This particular camp is for rising 6th-8th grade students and it will give students a chance to engage with healthcare professionals and get real hands on experience in the fields of Nursing, Imaging, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Lab Sciences and Medical Assisting.
I don’t know about you but when I was in middle school I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. However, this kind of experience can have a real impact on the choices your student makes in middle school, high school and beyond! Imagine giving them the opportunity to pursue their interests and get a real feel for whether healthcare as a career is the right option for them!
It’s definitely been a topic of conversation amongst most of the parents I know as to whether to send their kids to college or to encourage them to seek a trade school or other technical education. It’s getting harder and harder to argue that college makes the most sense for every kid financially when so many end up with such tremendous debt by the time they earn a degree, especially when most trades offer on the job training and earning potential right out of the gate!
The Healthcare Career Camp is happening Saturday July 13th from 8am-4pm at the Piedmont Augusta Summerville campus, 2260 Wrightsboro Road. Your $10 fee includes T-Shirts, lunch, snacks and snow cones as well as the visceral hands on experience they’ll be getting from the professionals they’ll be interacting with. You can register here.
