Arrest Made in 2022 Richmond County Murder Case

The Richmond County Sheriff’s  Office has made an arrest in connection with the 2022 death of an Augusta teenager.

Investigators say shots were fired into a home at 11th Avenue and Grand Boulevard in June of 2022, striking 19-year-old JaKwan Gunter.  The Richmond County Coroner’s Office reported Gunter died at 4:00 am that morning at the scene.

The Case Went Unsolved for More Than a Year

The murder case remained unsolved until earlier this week.  Investigators have charged Isaiah Glenn with Gunter’s murder.  Glenn has been in custody on unrelated drug charges since days after the deadly shooting.

Glenn Now Faces More Charges

Authorities haven’t commented on what evidence linked Glenn to Gunter’s murder.  He was charged Monday with Murder and Aggravated Assault at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
