Austin talks about violence and looting, and the repercussions.

Austin Rhodes:[00:00:00] There’s a lot of violence and looting going on in Philadelphia that some would have you believe is the direct result of police brutality. No, that’s not it at all. It’s an excuse for thugs to get out and do what they do. Thug.
Folks, we have been putting up with ridiculous extremes shown when it comes to lawlessness, shoplifting, vandalism, looting, you name it. For way too long. And now when there’s ever any social injustice or perceived social injustice, it seems like urban centers around the country erupt in violence again, looking just for another excuse to go out and steal because these people are too stupid or lazy to earn what they need to get along in life on their own.
I don’t know exactly what’s going on in Philadelphia as far as justice for the officer involved that was accused of murder in a case where a man was shot while attempting to wield a knife against arresting officers. But the bottom line is this. The retail centers and the convenience stores in every urban center in this country need to do a far better job of communicating what they do to thieves and thugs when caught in their stores. And that’s not turn a blind eye.
That’s not allowed people to clean their shelves off and not allow people to grab what they want and run out without paying. It’s stopping them by force if necessary. And every now and then when somebody is armed or doing violence, you shoot them. That will stop this lawlessness immediately. And until we get tough about it, it’s going to continue. Period.
I’ve never been one to advocate vigilante ism or any of that. But if you are being robbed, if your property is being taken, if your business is being destroyed, there’s not a city in this country where it’s not legal to defend yourself with deadly force if necessary. And that also means defending your property. Get with it or lose what you have. And that means all of us. And that’s the comment, I’m Austin Rhodes, AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC. [00:00:01][0.0]
