Grovetown High School Teacher Arrested and Suspended After Striking Student
Grovetown High School Principal Andrew Young says administrators were notified Wednesday of an incident involving a teacher that took place Tuesday at the school.
JROTC instructor Cecile Williams allegedly struck a student during class, according to a statement from Grovetown High School Principal Andrew Young. Williams has been suspended pending further investigation by the Human Resources Department.
Young says Williams has also been arrested and charged with Simple Battery by Columbia County School District Police. The incident is being forwarded to the Professional Standards Commission for further review, as required.
“Safety of students and staff is a top priority and any inappropriate physical contact is not tolerated,” said Young. “Inappropriate or suspicious behavior should be reported immediately to an administrator, Columbia County School District Police, or by contacting the Columbia County School District Anonymous Tip Hotline at 706-541-3600. ”
